Today we hosted our first official birthday party. J2 has been asking for one for a couple of years now and we've always managed to wiggle out of it, but this year we relented and gave him his party. The down side is that his birthday is in August and we didn't have a whole lot of luck getting people to show up to the party. There ended up being only 4 of his friends that were able to come. The up side is that there ended up being only 4 of his friends that were able to come. Is that wrong of me to say?
There is an awesome place here in town for having them called Up-N-Jacks, which is basically a big warehouse of a place filled with bounce houses. They also have party rooms and they provide the plates, and silverware and napkins etc. All we have to do is show up with the cake. They even have a person that will write down all the gifts and who they were from so you can just enjoy the party. Other than it being smaller that we had hoped for, it went off without a hitch. Well...one hitch I suppose. J1 was running and tripped up and fell and gave himself the nastiest rug burn I've ever seen. It was about the size of a silver dollar. Mom, ever ready, whipped out the first aid kit and handed me an alcohol wipe and a band aid. The people at Up-N-Jacks were quick to give him a great big band aid and he was back in business.
Oh and if you couldn't figure out already...it was a pirate theme.
